Two Birthday Cards using Lawn Fawn

Birthday Cards, Cards

Hi everyone. I hope you’re having a great start to your week! Today I’m sharing a DOUBLE FEATURE. One video–two cards!

I had two birthdays coming up for two very special kids in my life so of course I needed some special cards to celebrate the occasions. I let my camera roll as I created the cards so I have a how-to video to share with you. You can watch the video below, or over on my YouTube channel.

These cards were just a pleasure to create. I didn’t follow any reference photos when colouring and just let the Distress Ink do its magic. That’s one of the things I love about creating for kids–just letting the creativity flow.

Anyways, that’s it for me today. Thanks so much for dropping by!

Double Layer Shaker Card

Birthday Cards, Cards

Hi everyone! Today I have a card to share that I created almost two months ago and am finally getting the chance to post.

I absolutely adore making shaker cards, for a variety of reasons, but I wanted to up the ante and create something that I’ve never seen before: a double layer shaker card.

There is of course a how-to video so you can follow along as I create the card. You can watch the video below, or over on my YouTube channel.

Creating the shaker portion was just as easy as it always is (layer foam tape over acetate), but this time I created two separate chambers for my shaker material. The top layer is a whole bunch of fun party confetti, and the bottom layer is my favorite sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. The effect of the two separate shaker section is really neat in real life and I’m so pleased with how this card turned out.

If you like this card, you may also like the floating shaker card that I created a couple months ago. You can see it over on my YouTube channel in case you missed it.

Colouring Lawn Fawn using Spectrum Noir Markers

Birthday Cards, Cards

Hello my crafty friends. Welcome to another Colour Me! post. This week the challenge is to create a project using four colours: turquoise, salmon, green, and mustard.

CMCC90

For my project, I recreated a card that I made for my Dad’s birthday last week. I wanted to showcase a unique way to use your Spectrum Noir alcohol markers to create an almost watercoloured look. As usual, I let me camera roll as I created the card so you can watch the how-to video below, or on my YouTube channel.

I mentioned in a blog post last week that I have been obsessed with using stitched oval frames on my cards recently. For me, they are just a classic window into a story. I create my frames using my Silhouette portrait machine. If you don’t know how to add the stitched detail in Silhouette Studio, I have a YouTube tutorial that you can watch here to learn how.

Purple Glam Birthday Card

Birthday Cards, Cards

Welcome! I took a week off, but I’m back to share a card I created for the Colour Me challenge. The challenge this week is to create a project using purple.

CMCC83

To get my mojo flowing, I created a super easy and quick card. The touches of gold add a nice bit of pizzazz and glam. I used a fuchsia version of this card for a nine year old girl’s birthday last weekend and it was a hit!

As usual, I’ve created a YouTube tutorial to show you how I made this card. You can watch it below, or on YouTube.

Happy Birthday Shaker Card

Birthday Cards, Cards

Welcome! This is my second post of my DOUBLE FEATURE today. If you’re here for the Colour Me! challenge, keep scrolling down.

I’m back on the Alley Way Stamps YouTube channel today sharing a shaker card I created by combining two of the mini stamp sets: Moosing You, and Wreathed in Love. You can watch my tutorial below, or on Youtube.

I created my card for a family member who loves owls. She has impeccable taste so I think that using vellum for the shaker window, instead of clear transparency, adds a little bit of elegance to the shaker part of the card.

As always, there is plenty more TAWS inspiration over at their blog.
