Cards, Love note, Non traditional

Welcome! Today’s post is a DOUBLE FEATURE! Some family members asked me to create some Valentine’s for their kids so I thought I’d share these quick and easy cards using two stamp sets from Lawn Fawn: Bee Mine, and You’re a Hoot. These cards are really easy, quick and fun to make.

Ok, so let’s dig in:

Colour Me…! #54 – Thankful Anchor

Any occasion, Cards, Challenges, Masculine Card, Non traditional

Welcome to another week at Colour Me…! I was blown away with the talent of the submissions for last week’s challenge and can’t wait to see what you come up with for this one! This week’s combo gave me nautical vibes so I just ran with it. The challenge is to create a card using only red and blue.

CMCC54My card this week comes complete with it’s own video–

I created an 4Bar card (4 7/8 x 3 1/2″) with a simple striped watercolor background.

I cut out the anchor shape using my Silhouette Portait cutting machine and dry embossed it with a dot embossing folder. I wanted to add some extra dimension and detail so I used a blue marker to colour some pearls the right blue before adhering them onto my card.

You Make Me Toasty – Valentine’s Day Card

Cards, Love note, Non traditional

Hi everyone! A quick card share today. I got the idea for this card earlier in the week while I was having a grilled cheese sandwich (comfort food during my first week back to work after holidays!). It turned out to be surprisingly easy with the Silhouette file I downloaded and cut. I created the you make me toasty sentiment in Silhouette Studio with the text function and a retro looking font.

Love Birds – Winter Sparrows

Cards, Love note, Non traditional

I hope everyone is having a great holiday. I’m back from a trip to visit my family and having a blast playing in my craft space.

I’m not ready to put away some of my holiday stamp sets so the card I’m creating today uses the Lawn Fawn’s Winter Sparrows set for a valentine’s day card.

Twelve Days of Christmas: Day Twelve, Santa Paws

Cards, Holiday Card, Non traditional

It’s finally here! Day twelve of the Twelve days of Christmas. In case you missed any of the first eleven days, I’ve done a recap below. In the meantime, I’m just going to jump right to it.

On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

ZedSquared-Christmas2014-12…a santa paws card.

I have a white mini schnauzer, Zoë (one half of z²), who looks just like the pup on my card. To cut the schnauzer shape, I used a file from the Silhouette store. I traced a santa hat and then cut all the parts using my Silhouette Portrait cutting machine from various colours of heavyweight cardstock.

While I was at it, I also cut a bone background stencil from a piece of plastic transparency paper.

I used a piece of Ranger Distress Stamping Paper for my background and positioned the stencil over top so that I could apply Ranger Distress Embossing Ink and then heat emboss with pearly powder.

After I heat set the powder, I applied green watercolour over the embossed bones to create a resist. Once I let the watercolour dry, I used a baby wipe to rub any green paint off the bones.

I used the same ink and pearly embossing powder to add a little shine to the bobble and trim of the santa hat before assembling it with Ranger Matt Medium glue.

I assembled my paper Zoë by tying a bow around her neck, adding the eye and nose, and adhering on the santa hat (with Tombow Mono liquid glue).

To finish my card, I adhered a piece of patterned paper from Lawn Fawn’s Peace Joy Love collection onto my white cardbase and then used foam tape to adhere the bone background and my Santa Paws Zoë to add lots of dimension.

Thank you so much for dropping by and sticking with me through this series. I’m going out of town for the holidays so I wish everyone a safe and happy season! Woof woof from z²!

The first eleven days:

First day, Second day, Third day, Forth day, Fifth day, Sixth day, Seventh day, Eighth day, Ninth day, Tenth day, Eleventh day.

Thanks again!
