CMCC#61 – Orange Card with Lawn Fawn

Cards, Challenges, Design Team, Love note, Non traditional

Welcome! Orange you glad it’s another week over at the Colour Me…! challenge? This week the challenge is to create a project using orange.

CMCC61

I have to be honest and say that orange is not my favourite, or go-to, colour, but I’m happy with how my project turned out. I wanted to create a kind of loose sketchy look on my card so I combined a variety of different techniques and incorporated as much orange as I could.

After I freehand drew my boxes in pencil (I was going for a sketchy look), I started by stamping the pups and butterflies from the Lawn Fawn, Critters at the Dog Park, set and coloured them in with my inexpensive Bic Mark-It alcohol markers. To add a little texture and whimsy to the pups, I used my Copic colourless blender and lifted off some colour to add a few little speckles.

After I finished colouring, I used a fine-tip black marker to trace the boxes and then erased my pencil lines. When I started stamping, I learned the hard way that ink will lock in pencil marks, so make sure to erase those before you ink anything over top! Next, I masked off my stamping and used Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink to blend the orange backgrounds.

To finish the card, I adhered a piece of orange striped paper to my A2 (4¼ x 5½) cardbase and then used foam tape to pop up my main focal panel.

Lunch Box Cards using Lawn Fawn and Simon Says Stamp

Any occasion, Cards, Non traditional

Hey there! Welcome to my little pajama party. One night, last week, before I went to bed, I practiced some techniques I plan to use in a few up coming tutorials. When I sat down to play, I didn’t plan on actually making a card, but my creative mojo started flowing so I switched on the camera once I realized I was going to create. You can see in the vid that I’m actually wearing my pajamas!

I the kept the cards to a smaller lunchbox sized format. Since I was using up scraps to practice, I just kind of went with it. I haven’t been able to put away the Critters at the Dog Park stamp set since I received it a few weeks ago, not to mention my Distress Ink madness craze!

The final cards are 3×4″–just perfect to send in someones lunch kit. I think it’s sweet to tell someone you love them during the day and I can’t wait to use these cards! I think I’ll send one for my nephew, and use the other for my partner in crime.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I’ll be back here on Wednesday with a new Colour Me…! post and video. Until then, LLAP,

Colour Me…! #59 – Simon Says Stamp and Lawn Fawn, You are Pawesome

Any occasion, Cards, Challenges, Thank You Cards

Welcome! I had so much fun creating my card for this week’s Colour Me…! challenge. The day I created the card, I woke up to -40º C temperatures (yikes!) so I was so ready to create a project using spring colours. This week the challenge is to create a project using teal, yellow, and red.

CMCC59

I grabbed some new stamp sets and incorporated a few different techniques for my card. I’m a novice colourer, so a few months ago I purchased a pack of Bic Mark-It alcohol markers to practice and learn how to colour and blend with markers. I don’t use them that often, but was pleasantly surprised with how well they blended together on this project.
