Two Birthday Cards using Lawn Fawn

Birthday Cards, Cards

Hi everyone. I hope you’re having a great start to your week! Today I’m sharing a DOUBLE FEATURE. One video–two cards!

I had two birthdays coming up for two very special kids in my life so of course I needed some special cards to celebrate the occasions. I let my camera roll as I created the cards so I have a how-to video to share with you. You can watch the video below, or over on my YouTube channel.

These cards were just a pleasure to create. I didn’t follow any reference photos when colouring and just let the Distress Ink do its magic. That’s one of the things I love about creating for kids–just letting the creativity flow.

Anyways, that’s it for me today. Thanks so much for dropping by!

Colouring Lawn Fawn using Spectrum Noir Markers

Birthday Cards, Cards

Hello my crafty friends. Welcome to another Colour Me! post. This week the challenge is to create a project using four colours: turquoise, salmon, green, and mustard.

CMCC90

For my project, I recreated a card that I made for my Dad’s birthday last week. I wanted to showcase a unique way to use your Spectrum Noir alcohol markers to create an almost watercoloured look. As usual, I let me camera roll as I created the card so you can watch the how-to video below, or on my YouTube channel.

I mentioned in a blog post last week that I have been obsessed with using stitched oval frames on my cards recently. For me, they are just a classic window into a story. I create my frames using my Silhouette portrait machine. If you don’t know how to add the stitched detail in Silhouette Studio, I have a YouTube tutorial that you can watch here to learn how.

F is for…Fart!

Any occasion, Cards

Yep, that’s right! Today on the z² blog I’m playing along with the Sisterhood of the Snarky Stamps, F is for Fart challenge. I’ve been dying to play along with these hilarious challenges so I’m glad that I finally had the time to participate.

I let my camera roll as I created my silly card. You can watch the how-to video below, or over on my YouTube channel.

I can honestly say that I’ve never made a card quite like this one. Potty humor pretty much always cracks me up and I’m not embarrassed to admit that the cards from the Sisterhood of the Snarky Stamps DT and other entries totally made me laugh out loud.

I’m also playing along for the first time ever with the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge and used this week’s sketch as inspiration for my card design.

That’s it for today! Thanks so much for dropping by!

Distress Ink Two Ways

Any occasion, Cards, Challenges

Welcome! It’s time for another Colour Me! challenge post. This week the challenge is to create a project using a mossy green.

CMCC87

As I’ve mentioned before, the Colour Me! challenge colours are based on Stampin’ Up! colours. I personally don’t own very much SU! product, so I choose supplies in my stash that most closely match. In this case, I used Mowed Lawn Distress Ink. You can watch my video tutorial below, or on my YouTube channel.

I created a fun hillside background for my bear by applying the Distress Ink in an uneven way for a more dimensional effect. I also used some mica-based eye shadow to rub into the Distress Ink while it was still wet. I found this powder at my Dollar Tree and use it as a great substitute for Perfect Pearls.

For my cloudy background, I used my favorite embossing paste alternative–acrylic caulking–and a stencil that I cut using my Silhouette Portrait machine.
