Using Patterned Paper to Create a Card

Any occasion, Cards

Welcome! Today I’m back over on the Scrapbooks by Design blog sharing a card that I created without using stamps. As always, there is a how-to video to see how I created this card. You can watch the video, below, or on my YouTube channel.

I started with the 6×6 Simple Stories paper pad, and just let the papers in the pack insprire my card. I also used Distress Ink, and the Embellished Tag Creative Cuts die set.

Sunshine with Newton’s Nook

Any occasion, Cards

Welcome! I’m back on the Scrapbooks by Design blog today sharing a card I created using a mini stamp set from Newton’s Nook, Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, and Distress Inks. To make my sunshine card, I created my own masks using a Zig 2 Way glue pen as a repositionable adhesive. As usual, you can watch the video tutorial below, or on YouTube.

Sending Monster Hugs with Lawn Fawn

Any occasion, Cards

Welcome! I’m thrilled to be back on the Scrapbooks by Design blog today sharing a card I created using supplies from Lawn Fawn and my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. As usual, there is a video tutorial showing you how I created my fun monster card.

I made a very similar card for my sister’s birthday in May using the little birthday hat stamp that’s included in the Monster Mash set, and swapped out the patterned paper with a piece from the Taylored Expressions, Double the Fun, 6×6 pack. I love this stamp set because it can be used for so many different occasions.

Ok, that’s it from me today. Thanks so much for dropping by!

Pop Art Card using Taylored Expressions Stamps and Spectrum Noir

Cards

Hi there! Today I’m back over at the Scrapbooks by Design blog and can’t wait to share the project I created. As usual, I let the camera roll as I crafted so make sure to watch the video tutorial to see how I made my card.

I’ve had the idea for a pop art inspired card ever since I saw the Souper Soon set at the SBD store. So, I turned on some Velvet Underground (you know, as a nod to Mr. Warhol) and got to work.

I started in Silhouette Studio and used my Silhouette Portrait to cut the kraft frame. I cut it out four times and and then adhered all the layers together using my Zig 2 Way Glue Pen. I used four layers to give the frame some extra dimension, and structure.

Next, I used the frame to trace the grid onto my white cardstock and stamped the soup can man (I doubt that’s his official name) nine times. I think a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig would have been handy for this part, but since I don’t have one, I just went with it.

Once I let the ink dry for a minute or so, I got to colouring using my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. I did easy and simple colouring. I wanted to keep the images flat so I did virtually no shading and I used retro tones to keep with the pop art inspiration.

I wanted to avoid letting the colours bleed, so once the coloured soups had a chance to dry, I used the same colours to fill in the background of each cell. This didn’t have to be perfect since the frame was going to hide any imperfections.

Finally, I used my Zig 2 Way glue pen again to adhere down the frame over the soup man images. To finish my card, I cut a cardbase (slightly larger than A2) and used foam tape to adhere the whole front panel onto the card. I stamped the Get well soup-er soon greeting on the inside, adhered down another soup man (the stamps come with the coordinating dies) and called it a day.
