CMCC#73 SimonSaysStamp – Sending Lots of Love

Any occasion, Cards

It’s already time for another Colour Me post! Before I get started, I just want to mention that there is a design team call on over at the Colour Me challenge. Take a leap and apply! Colour Me was my first ever DT and I am so happy that I applied and have been able to join such a positive and talented group of designers.

Ok, so moving on, this week the challenge is to create a project using two shades of purple, a teal, and orange.

I was very tempted to create a Halloween card with this colour combo, but I was inspired by my Sending Happy Thoughts stamp set and had the idea for little vellum envelopes stuffed with tiny hearts so I ran with that idea. Make sure to watch the video to see how I created this card–

Sometimes vellum can be kind of fussy to work with and figuring out how to adhere it without the adhesive showing is usually the biggest challenge. But here’s the thing…if you are adhering the vellum to a white base, the adhesive barely shows. I did a quick test using my three favourite liquid glues, and all three were barely noticeable once they dried. You can see my mini test in the video tutorial.

Before I sign off, I do want to mention that this is my second attempt at my card this week. I wasn’t terribly happy with my original creation, so I hit the drawing board and gave it another shot. This is one the things I love so much about the creative process of card making. We can use, and re-use our supplies (especially stamps) to create any number of different cards. I’m glad I tried again because I’m much happier with this card.

Thanks so much for dropping by! I hope I’ve inspired you to play along with us over at the Colour Me challenge. Until next time,

Colour Me…! #57 – Lots of Love Navy Shaker

Cards, Challenges, Love note, Masculine Card, Non traditional

Welcome to another week at the Colour Me…! challenge. Today is my birthday! This has been one of those years where it really creeps up without much warning!

So, this week the challenge is to create a project using navy. I’ve been really in the Valentine’s spirit so I kept ridding that wagon with this card.

The card I created is fun and flirty, but with a masculine navy flair. I designed the front panel in Silhouette Studio and cut the front, as well as the heart shaker filling from navy cardstock using my Silhouette Portrait. I softened the look of the shaker by using vellum for the front window.

Thank you so much for dropping by. I hope I’ve inspired you to play along with us over at the Colour Me…! challenge. Make sure to visit the other VERY talented designers for some juicy inspiration–

One more thing before I sign off, I’m going to use this card to play along with the Virginia’s View Challenge #12, Shaker cards

Until next time!

**Update** I am so honored that this card was selected as one of the TOP 10 cards for the Virginia’s View Challenge**
